Reflection Companion

Reflection Companion provides scripture-centered Christian encouragement. The app helps users reflect on what they are carrying, then suggests scripture, hymns, prayer prompts, Christian readings, modern book recommendations, and one faithful next step.
The app is not therapy, medical advice, crisis support, confession, absolution, or a substitute for clergy, licensed professionals, emergency services, or trusted community support.
Users may enter a written reflection and choose a language, Christian tradition, and intensity level. Users may also save reflections or favorites locally on their device.
The current MVP does not create user accounts and does not intentionally collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, payment details, location, contacts, photos, microphone recordings, camera input, or health records.
Saved reflections and favorites are stored on the user's device using local browser or app storage. They are not synced to a server in the MVP. Anyone with access to the same device and app/browser profile may be able to view saved items.
Users can remove saved reflections and favorites inside the app. Clearing app or browser storage may also remove saved items.
In local development, the backend can receive reflection text, language, tradition, and intensity level to produce a recommendation. Production should use AI only to classify broad themes, safety signals, and retrieval tags.
AI should not act as a free-form therapist, pastor, confessor, or crisis counselor. Human-reviewed content should be retrieved from approved sources after classification.
Production should avoid storing raw reflection text unless the user explicitly chooses an account or sync feature and this policy is updated.
If a reflection suggests urgent risk, self-harm, harm to others, or an urgent intensity level, the app may show a safety screen instead of normal recommendations. This is a safety feature, not a diagnosis or emergency service.
In the United States, the app may direct users to call or text 988 or contact emergency services. Production launch in other countries should use region-appropriate crisis resources.
The app may link to external sources such as Bible resources, hymn information, publisher pages, library pages, or YouTube search results. These third-party services have their own privacy practices. Reflection Companion does not control those services.
Cloud sync is not active in the MVP. If added later, it should be optional and local-first. Users should be clearly warned before uploading saved reflections or notes, and should be able to delete cloud-synced records.
The MVP is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Production release should set the intended age rating and child-safety posture before submission.
The MVP does not sell personal information. Production should not sell user reflections or use them for advertising profiles.
Production should use HTTPS, access controls, minimal retention, and careful logging rules. Sensitive reflection text should not be written to server logs by default.
Users can use the MVP without creating an account, avoid saving reflections, delete local saved items, and open external links only when they choose to do so.

This policy may change as the app adds accounts, sync, analytics, production AI providers, licensed Bible APIs, or mobile app-store distribution.
